Natural Swimming Ponds
Natural Swimming Ponds & Pools are a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to a conventional chlorinated pool. Natural Swimming Ponds & Pools contain absolutely no chlorine at all, instead the water is passed through a mechanical filter, then a bio filter, then is pumped back into a part of the pool called the Regeneration Zone. The regeneration zone is a section of the pool which essentially is for the growth of aquatic pants. The water is then distributed throughout the regeneration zone via a network of perforated pipes, covering the pipes is a layer of scoria, as the water flows out though the pipes and passes up through the scoria the water is once again being filtered. At the top of the scoria layer is where the aquatic plants are planted, as the water flows over the roots of the aquatic plants any final impurities in the water are removed. In most cases this water will be cleaner than what is coming out of your tap!
Natural Swimming Ponds & Pools can be made to almost any shape and size provided you have the room to build one, ideally the regeneration zone should be 40% of the surface area of the swimming zone. But in saying that if you don’t have the room there are ways around it i.e. more bio filters can be added.

This style of pool is very safe for kids as there is no way that they can fall in the deep end and there are no sudden changes in water depth.
A Sand Bottomed Pool can be enjoyed in comfort all year round as the pool can be heated to whatever temperature you desire. During the summer heating is rarely needed as the sun heats the water up very quickly, this is due to the shallow water that covers the pool.
